Marc Bolan – T.Rex – Original Album Cover Sketch/Handwritten Credits

A true Marc Bolan/T.Rex rarity–Marc Bolan's original hand drawn sketch for the album cover for the FUTURISTIC DRAGON album, his notes for the album's design, and his handwritten credits for the album. Bolan drew this sketch for the album cover's designer, his longtime friend George Underwood (who designed the cover for the first Tyrannosaurus Rex album, "My People Were Fair…." and covers for David Bowie and many others.) Bolan sketched a crude self portrait astride a flying dragon, holding a shield with the band's name, labeling it "priority." On a second sheet titled "graffiks" Bolan wrote notes for the album cover, including "Futuristic dragon logo is T.Rex. Marc astride a silver dragon like in 'Arabian Knights & oval like a Marvel Comic logo;" a drawing of a logo for Gloria Jones and the motto "get a Jones in your bones; a Skelliton (Marc's misspelling) with an afro". A third sheet has Bolan's handwritten credits for the album, including the names of the musicians, artwork, etc."(br)We obtained these three sheets directly from George Underwood, who created the album cover for "Futuristic Dragon". The sheet with the sketch measures 5 1/4" x 8 1/4", as does the "graffiks page;" the page with the credits measures 7 7/8" x 5". The first two were torn from a daily diary, the third from a lined page. Also included is a UK first pressing of the FUTURISTIC DRAGON LP on EMI, in EX+/NM condition (there are some short notes written on the inner sleeve.) This is a unique opportunity to obtain a one-of-a-kind Marc Bolan/T. Rex collectible that is truly museum quality. As with everything we offer, this is guaranteed authentic with no time limit.
