MC5 – Rare Berkeley Benefit/Porno Films Poster
An extremely rare Gary Grimshaw-designed poster for the MC5 at the Berkeley Finnish-American Cultural Center in March, 1969. This "Dance-Benefit" was held to raise funds for the "San Francisco Newsreel and Liberation News Service," and also featured a Godard film and "raunchy porno flicks, police and army training films, light show and more." Grimshaw clearly took the porno films to heart, placing photos of nude women below the faces of the MC5 members. The poster is in near mint condition, measures 11 1/4" x 17, and is printed in purple ink on white paper (it is printed at a slight angle; we've never seen another copy, so we don't know if they are all like this.) Extremely rare.
