Mitch Mitchell / Jimi Hendrix – Mitchell’s Hendrix-Era “Granny Takes a Trip” Shirt
A shirt owned by Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell, and worn during his time with Hendrix. Made by legendary London clothier Granny Takes a Trip (probably for Mitchell), this shirt was exhibited at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum as part of their 2016-2017 exhibition You Say You Want a Revolution: Records and Rebels 1966-1970 (as seen in the exhibition photos here).
This was sold at auction in 2017 by Mitchell’s widow, Dee Mitchell. In overall excellent condition, with a small, easily-repaired tear to the right underarm. Underarm to underarm 18″; cuff to top of sleeve 23 1/2″, collar to bottom 28 1/2″.
With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity noting the provenance, and digital copies of the Victoria and Albert exhibit.
