Monterey International Pop Festival – Unused Ticket For Show 1 & Business Card (Simon & Garfunkel, Animals, Association, Etc.)

An exceptionally rare unused VIP ticket and business card from the first major rock festival, the 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival.

This festival was comprised of 5 separate shows, held at the County Fairgrounds, in Monterey, California.  The festival began on Friday night June 16, followed by afternoon and evening shows that Saturday and Sunday.

This ticket is for show 1 (Friday night), which featured performance by Simon & Garfunkel, Eric Burdon and The Animals, The Association, Lou Rawls, Johnny Rivers, Beverly (Martyn), and The Paupers.

Very few unused tickets survived, and before a small group was found in the estate of a promoter of the festival, no white VIP tickets were known to exist. These white tickets, sold at premium prices to music industry executives and record labels,  allowed the holder access to a special area at the front of the stage.

The festival’s performers also included Big Brother & The Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Who, Otis Redding, Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield, Booker T & The MG’s, Steve Miller, Quicksilver Messenger Service and others.

Also included is a double sized business card for the festival’s original promoter, who became the Production Supervisor, Alan Pariser. The card is embossed and folds in half to display the logo on the front and contact info inside.

Ticket and card in mint condition.
