Muddy Waters – 1969 Chess Records 10″ Acetate ‘Going Home’ Non-Album 45, from Producer’s collection
A rare 1969 Chess/Checker 10″ one-sided acetate of Muddy Waters’ non-album single ‘Going Home,’ from the collection of it’s producer, Norman Dayron.
The Checker (Mfg. By Chess Producing Corp) labels date this to November 18, 1969. ‘Going Home’ was recorded in Chicago with backing from Pinetop Perkins, Sammy Lawhorn, Pee Wee Madison, Calvin Jones, Willie Smith, and Paul Oster.
The notes on the sleeve, presumably written by Dayron, note ‘needs treble to open it up’ with equalization notations, and ’45-46? Carl Rolling Stone.’
The accompanying letter of authenticity notes ‘this disc was ‘from the estate of record producer Norman Dayron. Mr. Dayron produced many blues records and was a customer at my record store, Red Devil Records in San Rafael, CA. After his passing I purchased his record collection from his family, which included this acetate.’
In NM condition.
It’s exceptionally rare to find any Chess acetate, no less a Muddy Waters one. With our written lifetime guarantee of authenticity, as well as that of the owner of Red Devil Records.
