Nico – Handwritten & Signed 1970 Postcard

A postcard written and signed by Velvet Underground icon Nico to her friend and A&R man, Danny Fields. Nico and Danny knew each other from Andy Warhol's Factory, and he signed her in the late 1960's to Elektra Records (Fields is best known as the man who discovered and signed the MC5 and Stooges while at Elektra, later going on to manage both bands.) Nico stayed in regular contact with Fields, and sent this card to him January 12, 1970, from Luxor Egypt ! It reads in full "Dear Danny, I am getting nostalgic over the old life of living so solitary. Can you do anything for me in NY ? I would follow your advice. The movie is O.K. but does not take me into my world. Love you, Nico." Nico made the film "Cleopatra" in this year, so she is probably referring to this film in the card. Nico signatures are rare enough; handwritten letters or postcards are virtually never seen. This one, written during the 60's to a close associate is particularly good. In overall excellent condition. Included is a 4 1/2" square color photo of Nico and the Velvet Underground, suitable for framing. Guaranteed authentic with no time limit.
