Paul McCartney – White Matte RIAA Gold Record Award

An extremely rare original "white matte" RIAA Gold Album Award for Paul McCartney & Wings' 1973 album "Red Rose Speedway" on Apple Records. This was presented to McCartney's former manager, Vincent Romeo, who we obtained it from; and it comes with a copy of Vincent's letter of authenticity on his old MPL stationery, and two articles about Vincent's management of McCartney and Wings.(br)It is in beautiful condition, and all original, with the white matte and glass extremely clean. The disc has a bit of light tarnish, which you find on many original awards that have never been "restored." The gold disc is actually "Red Rose Speedway" as well (with the correct matrix number.) Very few companies used the correct discs for their awards, but Capitol did at the time. Vincent at some point replaced the paper on the back as it was torn and ratty (very common.) When he did this he peeled of the New York Frame and Picture Company sticker and put it on the new paper. Of course, everything but the backing paper is all original.(br)If you've read this far, you probably know that Beatle and solo Beatle RIAA awards are by far the most desirable "white matte" awards, and they don't come better than this–with impeccable provenance, from the original recipient–McCartney's manager, in excellent and original condition. A bit of light scuffing to the frame, as virtually all "white mattes" have. And of course, guaranteed original with no time limit, as is everything we offer.
