Phil Collins – Handwritten Lyrics For “Another Day In Paradise,” Used On LP Cover (Genesis)
Phil Collins’ original handwritten lyrics to his worldwide smash “Another Day in Paradise”, written here by Collins for use on the album cover for his massive hit But Seriously. These exact lyrics are reproduced on the inner sleeve to the worldwide #1 album, illustrated here.
From Wikipedia: [Another Day in Paradise] was Collins’ seventh and final Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, the last number-one single of the 1980s and the first number-one single of the 1990s. It was also a worldwide success, eventually becoming one of the most successful songs of his solo career. It won Collins and Padgham the Grammy Award for Record of the Year at the 1991 Grammy Awards, while it was also nominated for Song of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male and Best Music Video, Short Form. “Another Day in Paradise” also won an award for Best British Single at the 1990 Brit Awards.
Collins wrote out the lyrics to each of the But Seriously songs for use on the album cover, also handwriting the liner notes and even his name and the album title, all in a 9 1/4” x 11 1/2” notepad. In the pad Collins also wrote his name and the album title a number of times; included is an alternate version of these, as well as the Cromalin ‘match print’ proof for the UK “Another Day in Paradise” 45 picture sleeve (one of a kind, made for the record company to approve before mass producing the sleeve). Also included is a copy of the But Seriously album. Lyrics: 9 1/4″ x 11 1/2″; Name/Title sheet: 9 1/4″ x 2 3/4″; Chromalin: 17″ x 9 5/8″. All in excellent condition.
From the collection of a former record company executive who worked on the project. A truly museum quality collectible; with Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
