Pink Floyd – 1967 Japanese Piper Test Pressing
An incredibly rare 1967 black vinyl Japanese test pressing of Pink Floyd's debut album and psychedelic classic, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. This Japanese test pressing includes "See Emily Play" as the last track, which wasn't included on the UK release. While the commercial Japanese first pressings were on Red Vinyl, this test (dating from before the album was released) is one of a very few pressed on Black Vinyl. This would have been made for Japanese Odeon executives to approve, or for a top music reviewer. In NM/NM condition, this is the only one of these we've ever seen or heard of. It plays wonderfully, with a different EQ than the US or UK issue (a brighter sound, especially the drums.) Laminated cover has different back, with flipbacks and unique liner notes/band bios in Japanese. Catalog number stamped in red ink on Odeon test pressing labels. Note: Japanese test pressings like this came in fabricated covers, but without inserts or Obi's, as is the case here. An incredible rarity in superb condition.
