Prince – Prince Owned & Stage-Worn Custom-Made Purple Shoes
A pair of custom-made purple shoes, owned and worn by Prince. Hand crafted in purple satin with a black leather interior, each features a large silver ‘love symbol’ charm used as a zipper pull. These boots were extensively worn by Prince—in addition to having been re-soled, they have metal reinforcement brackets attached between the sole and heel. The black insoles are stamped “The City Cobbler, Handmade Shoes,” and the rubber soles are marked “Universal Sole, Phillips, Mens.”
Numerous photographs show Prince wearing identical shoes on and off stage during the 1990’s, and these shoes exhibit wear consistent with his exuberant stage performances. They are in very good condition with evidence of extensive use, including general wear and minor stains, scuffs, and small tears to the fabric. Included is a custom made plexiglass display box.
A similar pair of Prince’s shoes sold at auction in September 2017 for over $75,000.
We acquired these shoes via a former Paisley Park employee. Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold is a former Executive Vice President/General Manager of Warner Bros. Records, who worked closely with Prince during the 1990s, art directing numerous album covers for him, including Diamonds & Pearls, Love Symbol, and The Hits and The B-Sides (Gold’s account of working with Prince can be read here). Included is Jeff Gold’s letter of authenticity, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity. A truly museum quality Prince collectible.
