Prince – The Black Album Warner Bros CD Acetate
An advance CD “acetate” of the first official release of Prince’s The Black Album, issued by Warner Bros./Paisley Park. The Black Album was originally scheduled for release on December 7, 1987 as the follow up to Prince’s Sign of the Times. Just before it was due to be released, Prince cancelled the album and Warner Bros. destroyed the hundreds of thousands of copies that had been manufactured, for reasons that remain unclear. On November 22, 1994 Prince allowed Warner Bros. to release the album in a limited edition, and it was deleted on January 27, 1995. This CDR is from the official release and dated at the bottom September 27, 1994. A very small number of these CDR’s were made for Warner/Reprise executives; this one is from the collection of Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold, a former senior executive of Warner/Reprise. In perfect unplayed condition.
