Public Image Limited – Huge 1980 Paris Le Palace Concert Poster / From ‘Paris au Printemps’ Live Album Show (Sex Pistols)

A rare, huge concert poster advertising Public Image Limited’s January 17, 1980 concert at Paris’s Le Palace.

This concert and a second, added the next night, took place just seven weeks after the release of the band’s Metal Box, considered a classic of post punk.  These shows were recorded and released that November as their live album Paris au Printemps.

The poster measures just under 4′ square.  Previously folded, it has been archivally linen mounted, and looks spectacular.  Some light aging is visible along the flattened fold lines, but the poster is bold, bright and striking.  The only example we’ve seen.

Poster: 47″ x 46 3/4″, mounted to 49″ square. Album cover image for reference only.

From Wikipedia: Paris au Printemps is a live album recorded by Public Image Limited (given as ‘Image Publique S.A.’ on the cover) in 1980 on two consecutive dates in January in Paris, and released in November the same year. The title of the album is French for ‘Paris in the Spring’, with French names also given to the band itself and songs in the track listing. It is notable as the band’s last full-length release featuring founding bass player Jah Wobble, as well as the Paris concerts being drummer Martin Atkins’ first gigs with Public Image Ltd. The album reached number 61 on the UK album charts.

John Lydon has stressed that the album was made and submitted to Virgin Records to cover the band’s expenses for the Metal Box album.
