R. Crumb – 1971 Art Exhibition Invitation/Handbill

A 1971 handbill/invitation to “A big cartoon show at ‘th Berkeley Gallery” in San Francisco by legendary underground cartoonist Robert (“R.”) Crumb.  Crumb is widely acknowledged as the founder of the underground comix movement, as well as its most prominent figure, probably best know for his characters Mr. Natural, Fritz The Cat, and his “Keep On Truckin'” image.  Crumb was one of the founders of Zap Comix, and contributed to all 16 of its issues.  This handbill measures 8 1/2″ x 11″ and is in excellent condition, with two horizontal mailing folds.  Beautiful.
