Ramones – 1979 “Road to Ruin” Era Seattle Concert Poster
A rare poster advertising a January 5, 1979 show by the Ramones, with The Enemy and The Stripes at Seattle’s Norway Center. At this point, the Ramones would have been touring to support Road to Ruin, which was released in September, 1978.
According to information we found online, promoter Time Travelers was a comic book store that sold tickets, and eventually began promoting their own concerts. This Ramones show was their first, with Mike Vraney noting “ We heard a week before the show that the Ramones were going to be playing at the Rainbow Tavern and we thought that was f*cked,” said Vraney. “I knew at least 100 people, myself included, who wanted to see the band but were under 21.” When Time Travelers found out the band had another open night, they booked the Norway Center show. When the Rainbow said that the band was available for another night the two of them booked the Norway Center, and “Over 600 people came out, we let all our friends in free, made $40 apiece and got to see the Ramones. It was a really successful show.”
11 1/4″ x 17 1/2″. In Near Excellent condition, with a small crease to the bottom left corner, and scattered foxing and a small, faint moisture stain to the top edge. The only example of this poster we’ve seen.
