A mint condition program and menu card from the second annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction dinner, held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel on January 21, 1987.
Inducted that year, and featured in this deluxe 36 page program were Aretha Franklin, Jackie Wilson, Carl Perkins, Clyde McPhatter, Rick Nelson, Marvin Gaye, Eddie Cochran, Bill Haley, BB King, Smokey Robinson, The Coasters, Muddy Waters, Roy Orbison, Big Joe Turner, and Bo Diddley, as well as early influences Hank Williams, T-Bone Walker and Louis Jordan. Also inducted were Atlantic Records’ Ahmet Ertegun and Jerry Wexler, and Leonard Chess of Chess Records.
The menu card notes ‘Rock and Roll, a cultural sensation across the globe, is at heart and American phenomenon. In keeping with Rock’s roots, today’s menu is as all-American as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, or Betty Crocker.’
The program measures 8 1/2″ x 12″ and menu 3 3/4″ x 8 1/4″.
