Rolling Stone Magazine – Issue 00–Advertiser's Preview Edition

An extraordinarily rare "Advertiser's Preview Edition" of Rolling Stone Magazine, sent to potential advertisers in advance of the magazine's first issue, in an effort to drum up advertising commitments. One of only two known copies, this has the same John Lennon photo & Monterey Pop article on the front page as Issue #1, but an alternate column along the right side titled "Flashes." The top right corner reads "Advertisers' Preview Edition." There are 4 blank pages inside, the John Lennon story (on pages with "Page 00" at the top,) a sample ad, and "A Letter From The Editors" on the back, along with advertising rate information. This came from the archive of Ralph J. Gleason, the co-founder of Rolling Stone, and has his doodling on the front. It is in overall very good condition, with endemic yellowing, and a 4" split along the fold on the front page. We know of only one other example of this rarity, which is virtually unknown. SOLD
