Rolling Stones – 1964 UK Debut LP, Unboxed Decca, Possibly Unplayed, Full Shrink, 2A/4A

An absolutely stunning UK mono first pressing of the Rolling Stones’ 1964 self titled debut album on Decca, with red ‘unboxed’ deep groove labels. This is the correct first pressing with the 4:06 version of “Tell Me”, released slightly after a version mistakenly pressed with a 2:52 demo version.  The disc is absolutely beautiful with no sign of having been played, and a single very faint spindle mark on one label–probably from the factory, when it was stacked on a spool.  The stamper numbers are 2A/4A and the titles on the labels and cover are correct.

The front laminated sleeve is in spotless Mint condition, simply the best we’ve seen in 45 years, and comes in its almost complete loose shrinkwrap.  This was purchased in in the 60’s in a Los Angeles record store that carried imports, which were usually sealed in loose shrinkwrap by the importer or the store.  Two original price tags are present on the shrink, one for $6.98 and one for $4.95 (imports were always much more expensive than regular US issues).  We have included images of it in and outside of the shrink here.

This copy looks like it just came the factory–as nice as likely exists anywhere.  A superb, unbeatable copy of the album that started it all.  Essential and one you’ll never need to upgrade.
