Rolling Stones – 1966 “Behind The Buttons” Gered Mankowitz Outtake Photograph

A classic photograph of The Rolling Stones early in the morning on Primrose Hill, London in 1966, by legendary music photographer Gered Mankowitz.  This is an outtake from the session that produced the classic album cover for The Stones’ Between the Buttons.

This beautiful print measures 8 1/2″ x 10 1/2″ and is in mint condition.  The back has Mankowitz’s copyright stamp, and the notation in an unknown hand “Between The Buttons/Primrose Hill, London- 1966”, as well as the date the print was made, 6-4-74.

Gered Mankowitz is an English photographer who specialized in photographing musicians. His classic images of Jimi Hendrix,, Traffic, The Yardbirds, Elton John, Kate Bush and many others have been the subject of seventeen books. His photograph of The Rolling Stones adorns the cover of their classic album Between the Buttons.
