Rolling Stones – 1973 Michael Putland Live Photograph, From Wembley Concert
A superb vintage photograph of The Rolling Stones live at Wembley Empire Pool, London, in September 1973 during their Goat’s Head Soup UK Tour, by legendary English photographer Michael Putland.
This beautiful vintage print was made near the time the photograph was taken, and as such is worth far more than a recent print. It measures 9 1/2″ x 11 3/4″ (the image size is 6 3/4″ x 10″) and the back has Michael Putland’s copyright stamp in the lower right corner, as well as a handwritten date and negative number. In Near Mint condition.
Michael Putland is an English music photographer who Wikipedia notes “never had a day off in the ‘70s”. Putland was hired as the tour photographer for The Rolling Stones 1973 European Tour which this led to a long-term relationship with the Stones. Some of his best-selling images come from this period of close association with the band, for example his portrait of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh with a grinning, boy-ish Mick Jagger nestled between them. His Stones photographs have been collected in the books Pleased to Meet You and The Rolling Stones by Putland.
