Rolling Stones – Danish ‘Goat’s Head Soup’ Platinum Record Award, From Bill Wyman Collection (Artist Owned)

A custom Danish platinum record award for the Rolling Stones 1973  album Goat’s Head Soup, from Stones bassist Bill Wyman’s legendary Rolling Stones archive.

Goat’s Head Soup was the Stones’ 11th British and 13th American album, and a #1 hit in the charts of both of those countries, as well as many others around the world.  It featured the worldwide #1 single “Angie” and a number of other Stones classics, including “Dancing With Mr.D,” “Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker),” “Silver Train,” and “Star Star.”

Bill Wyman, a legendary collector of his band’s memorabilia, sold this award as part of the Julien’s Auctions sale Bill Wyman’s Rolling Stones Archive.  The award has a metal frame, and a metal disc laid down on a dark blue flocked backround, with a plate reading “10,000 Solgte Eksemplarer 1973”, or in English, “10,000 Sold Examples”.  As this doesn’t have a band member’s name on it, it’s likely the single award presented to the group.

In excellent condition, with some mild scuffing to the disc. 15″ x 20”

With the original auction card, hang tag, and Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity, noting the extraordinary provenance.  An extremely rare opportunity to own a Rolling Stones award from the collection of a band member.
