Rolling Stones – Unplayed 11 LP Mobile Fidelity ‘Original Master Recordings’ Box Set

A beautiful, unplayed copy of the long-out-of-print 11 LP Rolling Stones ‘Original Master Recordings’ box set, released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab in 1984.  Housed in a custom wooden box with brass hardware, the metal plate on the inside door identifies this as copy 0230.

Each of the heavyweight audiophile discs is in mint condition, with no sign of play.  Included is the 32 page booklet, and the Geo-Disc alignment tool, both in unused, near mint condition.  The box is in Near Mint condition as well, with two barely noticeable impressed lines on the top.

Musicbrainz notes Mobile Fidelity’s ‘Rolling Stones – The Collection’ box set is arguably the greatest sounding release of the Rolling Stones albums ever; considerably better than the standard LP or CD releases. All 11 albums in this box set were mastered at half speed from the original master tapes, and pressed onto pure 180 gram high definition super vinyl by JVC, which has an extraordinarily quiet playing surface, extreme durability and a lifespan many times exceeding conventional pressings.

Audiophile writer Donald Scarinci wrote There are new remasters of the Rolling Stones album collection, but no current remaster is as good as the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs box set released in 1984. If you want the best sounding stereo versions of the Rolling Stones hit albums, the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs Box Set is the best.

Mobile Fidelity Sound labs tracked down the original master Rolling Stones tapes, from which the music in the collection was transferred, in both England and America. More than 60 boxes of recording tapes were examined and auditioned, until the genuine original masters were discovered.

Originally released in October 1984 this ‘Limited Edition Library of Original Master Recordings’ is housed in a black custom wooden box with brass closure and a metal plate noting that this is #230 of the long sold out edition. Included are eleven Stones LPs, each in a glossy red cover with black lettering, a deluxe 32 page book that reproduces the original album cover graphics for each album (with the original 3-D lenticular artwork from Their Satanic Majesties Request on the cover) , and a Geo-Disc cartridge alignment platter.  The albums in this set are:

  • “The Rolling Stones”
  • “12 x 5”
  • “Out Of Our Heads”
  • “Aftermath”
  • “Between The Buttons”
  • “Their Satanic Majesties Request”
  • “Beggars Banquet”
  • “Let It Bleed”
  • “Get Yer Ya’s Ya’s Out”
  • “Hot Rocks”

The first three albums (“The Rolling Stones”, “12×5”, and “Out Of Our Heads”) were originally recorded in the mono, while the next six albums were recorded in true stereo. “Hot Rocks” is a compilation of mono and stereo tracks “transferred from the original master tapes…carefully spliced together by MFSL’s engineers.”)
