S.F. Mime Troupe – Steve Miller Blues Band – Muhammad Ali Festival Poster

An ultra rare San Francisco/Bay Area psychedelic poster advertising the June 10, 1967 MUHAMMAD ALI FESTIVAL at Hunter's Point, and featuring The Charlatans, the Steve Miller Blues Band, the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Anonymous Artists of America, the Committee, Radha Krishna Temple, and others. According to ExpressoBeans.com, only about 200 of these posters were printed (the artwork is by Gomez.) The poster measures 15 3/4" x 22 1/4", and is featured in the ART OF ROCK as AOR 2.245. The poster has long flattened creases across the middle and down the right side, 1" from the edge; however it has been stored flat for the past 40+ years. There are some other creases and a pinhole in the top center–the photo accurately portrays the condition–and we would grade this as VG+. It would frame very nicely. Three of the recorded sales of this poster on Expresso Beans are over $3000, with the last sale a year ago at $3465. We have however priced this to sell for much less. A rare opportunity to obtain a very scarce poster from the golden age.(br)This poster comes from the collection of the late Ralph J. Gleason (1917-1975;) one of the most influential jazz and pop music critics of all time. He was a central figure in the San Francisco rock scene, helped organize the Monterey Pop Festival, co-founded Rolling Stone magazine, and was a cofounder of the Monterey Jazz Festival.
