Sex Pistols / The Clash / Siouxsie & The Banshees – Original 100 Club/Punk Special 1976 Concert Poster

A poster for the legendary ‘Punk Special’ held at London’s 100 Club, on September 20, 1976. The show featured the Sex Pistols, Clash, and the live debuts of Subway Sect and Suzie (soon to become Siouxsie) and the Banshees, the latter with Sid Vicious on drums. The historic show, organized by Malcolm McLaren as a showcase for the Sex Pistols, gathered together almost everyone on the scene and brought a more widespread recognition of the punk movement. On the same day as the show, the Sex Pistols signed a 5 year management contract with McLaren’s company, Glitterbest Ltd.

The central image, the Sex Pistols jammed in a phone booth, was taken by Ray Stevenson, who shot most of the early Sex Pistols photographs. The poster is printed in blue ink on thin white paper, and is in excellent condition with light handling and a small smudge at the midpoint of the left border. 16 7/8″ x 12″. With a letter of authenticity from Briggs Rock and Pop Memorabilia, noting this poster was formerly the property of ex-Bomp Magazine writer Don Hughes, who attended the show (we have blurred the name of the recipient of the Briggs letter on the scan, for their privacy.)  Also with Recordmecca’s written guarantee of authenticity, with no time limit.
