Sex Pistols – 1976 Prototype SEX T-Shirt
One of the earliest prototype hand printed Sex Pistols T-Shirts, made by Malcolm McLaren & Vivien Westwood's shop SEX, 1976. This shirt is accompanied by a letter of provenance, describing it as formerly the property of Helen Robertson, who worked as a designer for "Acme Attractions" and later co-founded "Boy" (both Kings Road shops patronized by punks during the Sex/Seditionaries era.) In overall very good condition, with a few small, easily repaired tears where the sleeves are attached (We wouldn't repair it, and think this belongs in a frame.) A similar example of this very rare prototype shirt is illustrated in the book "No Future: Sex, Seditionaries and The Sex Pistols" (also illustrated in this recommended book is the still rare, but somewhat more common 1977 version made by Seditionaries, which differs in color & design from this prototype.)
