Sex Pistols – Large 1976 Anarchy Tour Manchester Concert Poster

A large and very impressive original EMI Records promotional poster announcing the Sex Pistols debut single, ‘Anarchy in the UK’, overprinted to advertise their December 19, 1976 show at the Electric Circus club in Manchester, UK.  This was part of the legendary ‘Anarchy in the UK Tour’ with The Clash, the Damned and Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers.

Twenty four Anarchy Tour dates were originally scheduled, but two days before the first show the Sex Pistols appeared on the Bill Grundy television show, where they swore on-camera.  The resulting outrage resulted in 17 of the shows being cancelled by various city officials.  The Manchester show was one of seven that did take place, and replaced a cancelled show at the Guildford Civic Hall.  The Pistols had played the same venue only 10 days before.

41” x 27”.  Archivally linen backed, in excellent condition with a few small, barely noticeable edge tears.
