Sex Pistols – Original 1976 Destroy T Shirt With Provenance
An ultra rare original 1976 Sex Pistols "DESTROY" Tee Shirt, created by Malcolm McLaren & Vivienne Westwood for their store SEDITIONARIES. This is the second version of this notorious design, incorporating the first verse of "Anarchy In The UK," the reversed crucifixion with a 1 pence stamp over the swastika (the Queen's head on the stamp having been decapitated) and using a more expressionist script for "Destroy." The artwork has been silkscreened on the shirt inside out. This shirt was acquired from Helen Robertson, who worked as a designer at "Acme Attractions" and later started "Boy" on Kings Road with her partner Steph Rayner. A letter of authenticity confirming this (from the original purchaser–a well known UK dealer) is included. The shirt is in overall excellent condition, having seen wear, but with no holes, tears or flaws of any other kind. There is a label, but nothing is readable other than "100% PURE COTTON" (there is some other unreadable text on it as well.) The shirt measures 18 1/2" from armpit to armpit. Bootlegs or reissues of this and other Sex Pistols shirts appear online regularly, being misrepresented as originals–but this is the real thing, guaranteed authentic without time limit (as is everything we offer.) A rare and historic artifact that should be framed and displayed.
