Sex Pistols – Rare 1977 ‘Never Mind The Bollocks/Flowers in the Dustbin’ Warner Bros. Promotional Poster

A rare Sex Pistols promotional poster issued by Warner Bros. Records in 1977 to promote their album Never Mind The Bollocks.  Warner Bros. sent these posters out machine folded, and this unused example is in Near Mint condition, having been stored flat for decades.

American designer Ronn Spencer created this day-glo classic, explaining “When WB signed the Pistols one of the art directors remembered my work and suggested sending some examples to Malcolm [McLaren, the Pistols manager], proposing I handle the stateside graphics. My graphics had the deliberately sloppy and aggressive style that grew out of my involvement with the largely Neo-Dadaist mail art group that was funded by a Canadian government arts grant in the early 70s. Malcolm agreed with the stipulation that I work with his American representative, Rory Johnston. Rory sent everything I did to Malcolm for final approval. We only butted heads when I sneaked a graphics credit in on [this] “Flowers in the dustbin”poster. He wanted everything to be anonymous. We never cleared anything with WB even though they paid me and not Glitterbest. We had carte blanche to do anything we wanted.”
