Sonny Boy Williamson – 1944 King Biscuit Time Photograph
An original 1944 signed and dated photograph of the great Sonny Boy Williamson II (Alec "Rice" Miller) on the set of The King Biscuit Time radio show. Acquired from the collection of the late, lamented Memphis Music Hall of Fame, this original vintage photograph is signed in the bottom right corner by photographer Ivey S. Gladin, dated '44, and embossed with the Gladin Studio stamp. This photo captures Williamson in the studios of KFFA, probably during a live broadcast of the King Biscuit show . Gladin's studio archive was acquired by the Southern Media Archive at the University of Mississippi, and this is the only print we've ever seen offered. The photograph has three small torn areas (no paper is missing and they are not readably apparent) and some light creasing, but it displays nicely–and will frame beautifully. As rare as it gets !
