An extremely rare 1958 cardboard boxing-style concert poster for a "Jazz For Moderns" concert featuring a young Sonny Rollins, The Dave Brubeck Quartet, The Four Freshmen, and Maynard Ferguson and his Orchestra. This poster captures Rollins was in his prime, having recently released his legendary albums SAXOPHONE COLOSSUS and WAY OUT WEST. We have never seen another one of these, nor any Rollins poster this early. Jazz boxing-style posters are rare indeed, and ones with photographs like this are almost never seen. Add to this a Jazz legend like Sonny Rollins and you've got an near impossible to find holy grail. Measures 14" x 21 1/2." The wear, edge tears and water staining could be restored by a paper conservator, but we think it all adds to the appeal of this vintage classic.
