Stevie Wonder – ‘Higher Ground’ and ‘Too High’ 10″ Acetates, from Producer Malcolm Cecil’s Collection

Two single-sided 10″ acetates comprising both sides of Stevie Wonder’s 1973 hit single ‘Higher Ground/Too High, from the collection of Wonder’s longtime collaborator Malcolm Cecil.  Cecil was an associate producer of this single and the album that spawned it, Innervisions..

As Wikipedia explains, With Robert Margouleff, Cecil formed the duo TONTO’s Expanding Head Band, a synthesizer-based project. The duo were closely associated with Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book (1972), sharing the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical award as well as collaborating on and co-producing classic Wonder albums such as Music of My Mind, Innervisions and Fulfillingness’ First Finale.

Each acetate is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from author and well known music archivist Johan Kugelberg, noting the acetate is ‘from the estate of Malcolm Cecil’ and ‘I acquired this from Malcolm Cecil’s assistant.’

Two historic Stevie Wonder acetates from his prime, with exceptional provenance.

‘Higher Ground’ grades EX and plays NM, ‘Too High’ grades VG(+) and plays VG+.  Both discs have track title and master information in grease pencil in the center, with mastering notations on the sleeves.
