The Band – 1969 Backstage Pass From Felt Forum, New York City
An impossibly rare backstage pass for concerts by The Band, December 26 & 27, 1969 at New York City’s Felt Forum (part of Madison Square Garden.) 1960’s backstage passes are extremely rare and this is the only one we’ve seen for The Band. We purchased this from Bert Yellen, a former employee of Albert Grossman Management (Grossman was Bob Dylan’s longtime manager, who also handled The Band and Janis Joplin.) Yellen told us “At the time, security was not quite the big deal it turned into. Still, I was concerned that anyone could walk backstage. I too it upon myself to make passes with the office printer. I gave them to the acts and their guests. Some wore them and some put them in their pockets. This was left in the dressing room.” This pass measures 4″ x 2 1/2″ and is housed in its original plastic sleeve; it has one pinhole (it was probably pinned to someone’s shirt.) With our lifetime guarantee of authenticity, and a copy of Bert Yellen’s email describing this pass.
