The Beatles – 1st State SEALED Butcher Cover Album

An incredibly rare SEALED first-state Beatles “Yesterday And Today” album with the famous “Butcher Cover.” Capitol Records planned to issue their new Beatles album in June 1966 with this album cover, but got such negative feedback from retailers that they changed course at the last minute and replaced it with the more conventional “Trunk” cover. Some Butcher cover albums were junked, other covers were pasted over with the Trunk cover, but an extremely small number of “first-state” covers (never pasted over) escaped Capitol’s plants, mostly in the hands of employees. A very few sealed first-state Butchers exist–perhaps 50– making them the most sought after Beatles album in existence (and a consistently appreciating investment.) This sealed mono first state Butcher is in superb condition, with fully intact shrink wrap and square corners, the only minor distractions being some very light corner creasing (really visible only on the back cover, on the top and bottom left-hand corners.) This is a #3 Butcher (the number on the back cover in the lower right hand corner,) indicating it was made in Scranton, PA. A true trophy in anyone’s record collection. This album has been authenticated as an authentic sealed first-state Butcher Cover by Perry Cox, the foremost authority on Beatles Records in the world and author of the “Price Guide for the Beatles American Records;” and the album comes with his signed letter of authenticity. We can provide more detailed, large scans on request. Of course, this comes with our written lifetime guarantee of authenticity. (Financing is available on this album to qualified buyers.) SOLD
