The Beatles – BBC Transcription Service “Sergeant Peppers” 2 LP Tribute

A rare 1988 BBC Transcription Service Beatles 2 LP set titled “Profile Sergeant Pepper: A Splended Time Was Guaranteed For All” featuring a 3 sided tribute to the Beatles most celebrated album. In addition to the obligatory medley of tracks from ‘Sgt. Peppers’ this set includes interviews with Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Ringo Starr, as well as extensive commentery by non-group members involved in the making of the album, including producer George Martin, engineer Geoff Emerick, album cover artist Peter Blake, and BBC DJ Kenny Everett. Also included is McCartney’s BBC interview and introduction of ‘Sgt. Peppers’ when it was played for the first time, his comments on creating the groundbreaking album cover, and Lennon talking about the follow up ‘White Album.’ Offered here are the original BBC-produced ultra high quality discs, made in extremely limited quantities in 1988–perhaps only 50 sets–and sent to UK and Commonwealth radio stations, who generally played them only once and discarded them. This is the only example of this very rare set we’ve seen, and it’s in superb mint condition. The program takes up 3 sides of the two discs, with the fourth side featuring a deluxe BBC stamped design. With the original BBC sleeve.
