The Beatles & Brian Epstein – Inscribed, Signed Card to Their Film Producer
A small white card signed by the Beatles and their manager, Brian Epstein, with an inscription from Paul McCartney to Walter Shenson, producer of their films "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help." On this card, likely accompanying a gift from the Beatles to Shenson, McCartney has written "To Wal, from the four boys you know as John Paul George and Harold !" and signed his name as Paul (McCartney.) Paul sometimes signed his name to close friends this way–with his last name in parenthesis. The other Beatles have signed below, as has their manager Brian Epstein. The reference to the band as "John Paul George and Harold" refers to a running joke McCartney occasionally made; a San Francisco sportswriter referred to them mistakenly in this way when they first arrived (and caused chaos) in his city (McCartney mentioned this in a published interview with David Frost.) This card has been authenticated by the world's foremost Beatles handwriting expert, Frank Caiazzo. Caiazzo notes in his letter of authenticity that the fact this was given and dedicated to Walter Shenson, a close associate of the Beatles, "adds greatly to the desirability…(while) it is the addition of Brian Epstein's signature which makes this an extremely rare and desirable set, as few exist which were signed by The Beatles along with their manager." Caiazzo guarantees this without time limit, as we do. A great and truly rare set, with the highest level of authentication, and a superb association. 2 3/8" x 3 5/8". From the estate of Walter Shenson.
