The Beatles – Decca contract pressing of Please Please Me LP
A very rare UK contract pressing, manufactured by Decca, of the Beatles debut "Please Please Me." In 1963, sales of the first Beatles album took off at such a pace that EMI couldn't keep up with demand. The hired out competetor Decca Records to press a limited amount of records for a few weeks in an effort to fill orders and keep the album in the charts. Decca pressings are identified by the "deep groove" label, with a circular indentation running about half an inch from the outside edge of the label. This is dated as a 1963 pressing by the "large mono" Ernest J. Day & Company sleeve, and the label copy with the "Recording First Published 1963" and without "Sold In The UK…" In EX/NM– to EX+ condition.
