A rare vintage print of a Beatles studio portrait by British Life Magazine photographer Terence Spencer.  Spencer shot the early Beatles extensively, and his January 1964 Life Magazine pictorial spread, “Here Come Those Beatles: Four Screaming Mopheads Break Up England,” was one of the earliest stories on the group to run in the US mainstream press.

This print measures 8 1/2″ x 12″ and has a faded Life Magazine information stamp on the back, as well as publication notes in pencil.  The blue scan at the left is an digitally enhanced version of the stamp, which notes the photographer is “T. Spencer,” the date 11-19-63, the “Story Location” as “The Beatles” and that “roll #18 missing.”

On that date, November 19, 1963, The Beatles attended a ceremony at EMI House in London where they were presented a silver disc awards for their first album Please Please Me and their second, “With The Beatles”–in advance of its release –and silver disc awards for their EP “Twist and Shout”, and singles “Twist and Shout” and “She Loves You.”

The photograph is the only vintage Life Magazine photograph we’ve ever had, and in excellent condition, with two barely visible staple impressions to the surface and minor creasing along the left edge near the bottom and top right corner.  It will frame beautifully.  An unusual vintage Beatles photograph with superb provenance.
