The Byrds – Alternate “Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde” Acetate LP
A rare acetate of The Byrds 1969 album Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde, cut at Columbia Records’ Los Angeles recording studios. This acetate, dated 12/23/68, has some different song titles and a different side-break from the final album, released in May, 1969. “Child of the Universe” is titled here “Candy II”, “Candy” titled “Candy I”, the medley on the acetate doesn’t mention “My Back Pages” (though it plays it), and the untitled final coda at the end of Side 2 is here titled “Break Song.” Additionally, Side One on the acetate ends with “Drug Store Truck Drivin’ Man” while on the released album that song begins Side Two.
