The Byrds – Rare Village Gate 1966 Handbill (First NY Club Shows)
A very rare handbill advertising October, 1966 shows by The Byrds at New York’s Village Gate. This was the band’s first club appearance in New York, and the Village Gate’s first booking of a rock band (they were primarily a jazz folk & blues club.) The Byrds had played New York only one time earlier, in June 1966 as part of a multi-act bill at Yankee Stadium (“Soundblast” also featuring The Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder and others.)
This handbill measures 5 1/2″ x 8 5/8″ and is in mint condition. The only example we’ve seen.
