The Carpenters – Signed 1973 White House Performance Program

An exceptionally rare signed program from the Carpenters’ May 1, 1973 performance at the White House, as part of a Nixon administration dinner in honor of ‘His Excellency Willy Brandt, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.’

The Carpenters performed many of their hits, including ‘Close to You,’ ‘Top of the World,’We’ve Only Just Begun,’ and a medley of ‘Superstar’ and ‘Rainy Days and Mondays,’ accompanied by their band and ‘members of the Marine Orchestra.’

The green program cover has a gold embossed presidential seal, and golden cord; the interior insert is signed boldly in black on the cover page by Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter.

The only example of this rare White House/Carpenters collectible we have seen.  In mint condition.  Closed: 5 x 7″.  Open 10 x 7″.
