The Doors – Full Band Signed Contract for ‘Absolutely Live’ Album / Exhibited at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame / Authenticated by Elektra Records Founder Jac Holzman (Jim Morrison)

A five-page contract between The Doors and Elektra Records signed by all five band members, regarding live tapes recorded at Los Angeles’s Aquarius Theater and used for their 1970 album Absolutely Live.  This contract comes with the finest authentication possible—a letter of authenticity from Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman, who discovered and signed The Doors, and signed this agreement on behalf of Elektra.

Authentic Doors autographs are extremely rare, and this exceptional document offers four pages initialed by each Doors member and Holzman, with a fifth page signed in full by Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Jac Holzman.

The contract was exhibited at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland as part of their 2007/2008 exhibition Break on Through: The Lasting Legacy of The Doors.  Additionally, the signature page is reproduced as a full page in the book Becoming Elektra: The True Story of Jac Holzman’s Visionary Record Label by Mick Houghton.

The contract has been archivally framed with a copy of the Absolutely Live album, though the pages are removable.

Included is the following documentation:

-Jac Holzman’s letter of authenticity, noting the contract’s inclusion in the book Becoming Elektra.

-A follow-up email from Holzman, again confirming the authenticity and referring to the contract as “a rare piece of Rock History.” He notes “this is the only Doors contract modification letter I every recall signing.  There were only three significant Doors documents that I recall: the original recording contract, this amendment relative to the recording of the Absolutely Live set, and a fresh agreement entered into for the final LP that became L.A. Woman.”

-A letter from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame chief curator Howard Kramer acknowledging the contract’s inclusion in Break on Through: The Lasting Legacy of The Doors, and a Loan Return Receipt from the Hall of Fame.

A truly extraordinary Doors collectible, with Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
