The Jimi Hendrix Experience – 1968 French 1st Press ‘Electric Ladyland’ LP with Rare Grand Prix Du Disque Sticker / Mint & Unplayed
A scarce and likely unplayed 1968 French first pressing of Jimi Hendrix’s masterpiece double album Electric Ladyland, with the very rare silver foil sticker noting this album was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix International Du Disque in 1969.
Hendrix’s French label, Barclay, created their own album covers for Hendrix’s albums, and while they’re all beautiful, this has long been our favorite. And while the inside of the gatefold is similar to the UK release, the photo of Hendrix is unique to this edition as well.
This 1968 first pressing is identified by the BIEM music publishing designation on the labels, instead of SACM, which appears on the 1971 issue.
The Mint condition discs look unplayed, with no spindle marks on any of the labels. The cover is Near Mint. With the original thin round plastic innersleeves.
A beautiful example of a very desirable Hendrix rarity.
