The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Near Mint UK ‘Electric Ladyland’ Track LP (Second Pressing)
A superb UK second pressing of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s masterpiece, Electric Ladyland, on Track Records.
Both discs are in Near Mint condition, lightly played, with a few spindle marks on each label. The EX+ gatefold cover is beautiful, with some lamination creasing to the top right corner on the front, and inside the gatefold. This copy has the second label variation, with “Two Record Set” printed on the labels (oddly enough, probably more scarce than the earlier version without this.)
Prior to the advent of Popsike, any black label Track “Electric Ladyland” was considered a first pressing and we consider this simply a slightly later variant. This has the original white type (the “blue type” variant is nothing more than a printing error hyped by unscrupulous or misinformed sellers.) As with all Track pressings, the catalog number 613 008 appears on both discs; an additional catalog number, 2657 001, appears at the bottom of the inner gatefold and below “Two Record Set” on the labels.
A beautiful copy of an essential 1960s album.
And if you’re obsessed as we are, read our essays on why the white type is the original variation, and the much hyped Blue Type “first printing” is nothing more than a printing error, here and here.
