The Rolling Stones – Rare 1978 “Some Girls” Boxing-Style Promo Poster With Banned Artwork The Rolling Stones – Rare 1978 “Some Girls” Boxing-Style Promo Poster With Revised Artwork
A scarce cardboard boxing-style promotional poster advertising the Rolling Stones 1978 album Some Girls. This is the rare ‘corrected’ poster, with photos from one side of the album inner sleeve of Judy Garland, Joey Heatherton, etc. The first, and more common poster, included photographs from the other side of the sleeve, featuring celebrities who had protested their inclusion including Lucille Ball, Farrah Fawcett, etc.
Printed by Colby Posters of Los Angeles, these were posted on telephone poles around Los Angeles. We obtained this from an employee of the company hired to post these at the time of the album’s release. He told us posters with the images of Monroe, Ball, Fawcett, etc. were only posted in Los Angeles, and when The Stones were sued by some of the celebrities pictured on the album cover, they were quickly pulled down by his company. This is a version of the much rarer version, remade without those celebrity photos, which was printed in far smaller quantities.
In very good condition, with two 1/2″ edge tears, and scattered creases. It will frame beautifully. 14″ x 22″.
