The Smiths – Morrissey – Handwritten Postcard to Jon Savage
A handwritten postcard sent by Smiths front man Morrissey to noted UK Journalist Jon Savage, just after the release of the second Smiths album "Meat Is Murder." Savage was a well known journalist on the punk scene, writing for Sounds and then Melody Maker, and the Face (before turning his attention to books; he is the author of the acclaimed "England's Dreaming: Sex Pistols and Punk Rock," amongst others.) Morrissey was a fan of Savage, and Savage an was an early and vocal supporter of the Smiths. The card, with an image of Morrissey hero Billy Fury on the front, is postmarked March 15, 1985 in Birmingham, England. Morrissey writes "Dear Jon, Loved the magazine. Hope your holiday was worthwhile. Thanks for all support. Be well, Morrissey." A rare card with an excellent association. Guaranteed authentic with no time limit.
