The Stooges, Blood Sweat & Tears – At Grande Ballroom / The First Ever Stooges Concert Poster
A beautiful near mint original printing of Gary Grimshaw’s classic poster advertising a show by Blood Sweat & Tears with the Psychedelic Stooges (aka The Stooges) as the third on the bill openers. This was The Stooges second ever concert, and this poster is the first poster ever to mention their name–their one earlier gig was a last minute substitution for the Amboy Dukes at the Grande six weeks earlier, but their name wasn’t on the advertising materials.
Recordmecca’s Jeff Gold is the author of Total Chaos: The Story of The Stooges/As Told by Iggy Pop, and this exact poster is reproduced on page 42 of the book. It is fresh and unfaded with just a bit of light handling to the top, and some uneven application of green ink to the right edge (to the right of Al Kooper’s waist–extreme right in photo) and in the green to the left of the word Grande. These are very minor issues, and the poster looks great. 13″ x 22″. With Recordmecca’s lifetime written guarantee, noting this is the poster reproduced in Total Chaos.
