The Village Fugs – 1965 1st Press Debut LP on Broadside, w/Insert
A clean copy of the Fugs’ 1965 debut album, The Village Fugs Sing Ballads of Contemporary Protest, Popint of Views, and General Dissatisfaction, on Broadside Records. This album was later reissued on ESP as The Fugs First Album.
The VG++ disc sounds great, with only the occasional surface noise often found on Folkways/Broadside LP’s. The textured cover is in VG+ condition; there is a name neatly written on the back in a similar color of ink, and small seam splits at the top and bottom of the mouth have been invisibly repaired. The fully intact spine has wear.
With the original lyric insert, and a page from a 1966 issue of Billboard, with an article about The Fugs signing to ESP in a deal that includes their first two albums, acquired from Broadside.
A rare album and important album some have called the first underground record.
