The Who / MC5 / The Troggs – First Printing 1968 Toronto Concert Poster, With Gary Grimshaw Art
A rare first-printing concert poster advertising an April, 1968 show by The Who, MC5 and the Troggs at Toronto’s CNE Coliseum. Promoted by legendary Detroit Disc Jockey Russ Gibb, it features artwork by Gary Grimshaw (who created many classic posters for Gibb’s shows at Detroit’s Grande Ballroom.)
The Who were touring in support of their groundbreaking concept album The Who Sell Out, released the previous December. The album featured the Who’s only US hit single, “I Can See For Miles,” which reached number 9 on the Billboard Top 100. The Troggs were known in North America for their hits “Wild Thing” and “Love Is All Around,” though the MC5 had only released three independent singles at that point, with their debut album, Kick Out The Jams, a year away.
13″ x 22,”, in mint condition. With Recordmecca’s written lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
