The Who – Pete Townshend Owned 10″ Acetate of 4 Songs From ‘My Generation’ LP
Pete Townshend’s own 10” acetate of four tracks from The Who’s debut album, My Generation.
This acetate, with the songs “My Generation”, “Out In The Street”, “A Legal Matter” and “The Ox” was given by Townshend prior to the album’s release to American singers Sandy and Jeanie Darlington, who recorded as Sandy and Jeanie. They met Townshend through Who manager Chris Stamp, and while living in London in the mid-1960’s became friends with him and his wife Karen. Jeanie noted that Karen Townshend made her a few dresses and the couple used to come to their house for dinner, because Pete liked American food, and that Townshend gave them the disc, because “he wanted feedback on his songs”.
