The Yardbirds & The Who – Marquee Club Handbill Announcing Yardbirds Debut LP
A very rare handbill from London’s legendary Marquee Club, advertising shows during January 1965 featuring The Who and The Yardbirds (with Eric Clapton,) and the release of The Yardbirds’ debut album.
The Marquee was “the” club in swinging London, and this handbill illustrates why–a Tuesday night residency featuring “Maximum R&B” with The Who and The Boys, and shows by “the blueswailing” Yardbirds (only four months before Eric Clapton left,) and gigs by Rod Stewart and the Soul Agents, the Alex Harvey Soul Band, the Brian Auger Trinity, T-Bone Walker, Gary Farr and the T-Bones, Long John Baldry & His Hoochie Koochie Men, and British jazz legends Chris Barber, Johnny Dankworth, Ian Carr, Don Rendell and Ronnie Scott.
The newsletter on the reverse notes the release of Five Live Yardbirds (with an album cover photo) and promotes upcoming appearances. In mint condition; 6 3/4″ x 8 1/2″ on thin newsprint stock. See our other listings for more rare Marquee handbills.
