Tyrannosaurus Rex – Ultra Rare UK Promo Poster for 1st LP
An ultra rare 1968 UK promotional poster for Tyrannosaurus Rex’s debut album, MY PEOPLE WERE FAIR & HAD SKY IN THEIR HAIR BUT NOW THEY’RE CONTENT TO WEAR STARS ON THEIR BROWS. This poster was made by EMI/Regal Zonophone Records, and features outstanding psychedelic artwork by George Underwood, who created the artwork for this and other Marc Bolan albums (as well as some by his childhood friend David Bowie.) We obtained it directly from George Underwood (it was his personal copy) and he signed it for us in silver pen in the bottom right hand corner. We know of only one other copy of this extremely rare poster, which was offered at auction years ago. This poster measures 15″ x 22 1/2″ and is is VG++ condition, with some creasing and some moisture staining in the great area to the right of where it says “Tyrannosaurus”.) As you can see this isn’t a big issue, and otherwise the poster looks great and will frame beautifully. This is perhaps the only chance collectors may have to obtain this extremely rare and historic poster–and as a bonus, it’s from the collection of Marc Bolan’s friend and the album’s cover artist !
